The Junior Council commemorated the International Day of the African Child by visiting Rose of Charity Children’s Home and the Chinotimba Old People’s Home in the City where they interacted with the vulnerable community members and donated groceries and clothes.
The Junior Councillors mobilised the donations from their schools, families and community.
The gesture was a show of compassion by the young leaders whose resolve was to contribute towards livelihoods of the needy members of the society and contribute to attainment of Sustainable Development Goals.
Rose of Charity Children’s Home takes care of orphans from 0-18 and has close to 4 dozen children while the old people’s home has 20 elderly inmates.
The City has 18 Junior Councillors.
