Youth Invest, an organisation that has a Memorandum of Understanding with Council is conducting a Capacity Strengthening workshop on Governance and Public Finance Management which is being facilitated by the Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD). The two-day workshop titled “I Belong: I Participate “ rides on the partnership between Council and Youth Invest, and is targeting members of the Finance Committee and officers. Going under the theme: “Partnering to strengthen local governance for efficient service delivery”, the workshop is focusing on a wide range of issues around revenue generation and collection. It is an encouragement for Council to observe and implement the “Call to Action: No compromise on service delivery” call by President Mnangagwa. Issues discussed so far are how Council can generate revenue, maximise on revenue collection and how ratepayers can be encouraged to pay their bills and rates. Youth and women participation in budget making process and other activities is critical to service delivery, customer satisfaction and corporate governance.
